ASUCI · OFFICE OF THE INTERNAL VICE PRESIDENT · 2022 TO 2023

Students were missing events built for them. I built the outreach role, the team and the brand toolkit that put the office on campus.

A-frame for an international student event
The story
Three moves.
1 · THE PROBLEM
Nobody knew the events existed.
The office oversaw 12 commissions for different student groups, but students outside it rarely saw what was on.
2 · THE PIVOT
From reposting to understanding.
Online posting had low impact. We went to where students walk and asked what events they wanted and what was missing.
3 · THE SYSTEM
Design built around each event.
Stickers, flyers, A-frames, marquees and campus TVs, made for the event and the audience it needed.
Three choices
Tactics, and why.

CHOICE 1 · THE HOOK
What: a booth with a prize wheel on the busiest campus walkway.
Why: a face-to-face booth reaches students from every background in one place.
The wheel is a low-effort hook that lets them opt in and starts the conversation.
Impact: the office got a direct line to students across every group, plus first-hand input on which events they want.
CHOICE 2 · THE KEEPSAKE
What: for each commission request, I learned their need, audience and event style, then designed a sticker for the event, and a matching mug for the Banquet.
Why: collecting stickers is a campus habit (putting them on iPads, laptops, or water bottles), so the event stays visible long after it ends.
Impact: commissions got custom event design from me that carried across sticker and merch to give out to the students as an incentive.

CHOICE 3 · THE MATCH
What: after the hook, we asked which student group they belonged to, then told them about upcoming events and resources for that group.
Why: my team was involved in several campus groups, so we could answer with real resources in the conversation. An international student heard about international events and support, not a generic list.
Impact: every booth conversation became a referral, and the team built working ties with clubs and departments that future teams can build on.
Also on campus: A-frames, marquees, campus TVs, office brochure, intern merch.
